Joseph Gathiru Muriithi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi. He has also completed a postgraduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law. Gathiru has developed a deep understanding and expertise in the field of data protection, having undergone a sensitization course on the subject at Strathmore University.
Driven by his passion for the law, Gathiru has gained extensive training, knowledge, and experience in litigating commercial, conveyancing, and corporate law. He possesses excellent drafting skills and a compassionate approach towards clients, enabling him to successfully handle complex litigation disputes before various courts.
Gathiru has a keen interest in technology, privacy, and data protection. He has conducted data protection law training, compliance legal audits, and prepared data protection manuals and policies for various organizations. He offers advisory services in the form of legal opinions, guiding clients on data protection matters.
Beyond his expertise in data protection, Gathiru is committed to the protection of human rights and freedoms. He actively participates in caucuses discussing anti-discrimination legislation across different jurisdictions. Gathiru has conducted data protection and privacy audits for a pension administrator and prepared data protection compliance roadmaps for organizations. He has also assisted organizations in their registration process with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and facilitated engagements between clients and the ODPC.
